Since 1983, MyFamily Inc. (1999-2006) (formerly Ancestry.com Inc.), a privately held company headquartered in Provo, Utah, started connecting people to their roots, helping them document their heritage and sustain their family legacies. Since then, MyFamily's services have continually grown in response to people's desire to reconnect with their families and develop a stronger sense of family history.

In 2006, the company changed its name to The Generations Network.
